Much of the material concerns the struggle of Rabbi Solomon Tiktin against Rabbi Abraham Geiger's eventually successful candidacy as "second rabbi" of Breslau, which Geiger began in 1838. Rabbi Geiger's views were considered heretical, and his approach to Jewish practice too liberal.
